Nowhere
By Bard McLugh
The Southern Gothic, punk rock, adventure novel by Bard McLugh, Nowhere, is the story of one man’s journey, his searching without thinking and his finding without looking. Mack the main character and his voluptuous young girlfriend, Lola Diamond, go on a tear through the South in a mindless journey of murder, robbery, sex, drugs and mayhem. Yet throughout this anarchic journey, Mack whose mind is “blank” has dreams and visions that haunt him and threaten to overturn his numbness to the world. Yet Mack does not awake. Or the reader is left in the dark, as the last vision takes place in the final chapter and the reader can only await the sequel.
Mack is no hero and Lola is no heroine, nor are they meant to be. They are a depraved, degenerate product of their backwoods Southern upbringing; yet, they are human.
